About

I am the director of the annual Music Industry Summit, the largest music industry conference in the Midwest welcoming national and regional music industry leaders and artists to Ohio University. Past artist keynotes have included Jason Isbell, Earl Sweatshirt, Caamp, Phoebe Bridgers, Michelle Zauner, Run The Jewels, Chuck D, St. Vincent, FINNEAS, and Saba.

I am the director of the School of Media Arts & Studies and an Associate Professor at Ohio University. With over 600 students, our school offers innovative majors specializing in music production & technology, music industry & entrepreneurship, digital cinema, video production, sound design, podcasting, animation, and the intersections of media and social change.

I've created and oversee numerous industry engagement courses including the OHIO South by Southwest trip and Production MasterClasses providing studio apprenticeship education with notable producers. Past producers have included Jim Eno of Spoon (Austin, TX), Joel Hamilton of at Studio G (NYC), Steve Albini at Electrical Audio (Chicago) and 7-time GRAMMY winner Michael Brauer (NYC).

I'm the faculty director of the student-run record label Brick City Records and serve as the advisor for OHIO Women in Music Industry.

I am the producer and host of the Emmy-nominated "Sycamore Sessions", a popular online live music series. Over 9 seasons, we have featured notable artists such as Tyler Childers, Sierra Ferrell, Adrienne Lenker of Big Thief, and many others. I am a Grammy-Voting member of The Recording Academy and an ASCAP-affiliated songwriter.

In 2016, I helped to pioneer XR production and curriculum at Ohio University, made possible through a near-million dollar innovation grant. Our team worked on ambisonic audio for projects across numerous disciplines. I presented my XR audio research at numerous conferences including the Harvard Virtual Reality Health Care Symposium and the NYC Audio Engineering Society Summit.

I spent over two decades as a music producer, musician, audio specialist, technology adventurist, studio owner, and media journalist. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, I worked as a producer and engineer with a multitude of signed and independent artists and have worked on sound design for both short and feature-length films.

My current research extends into artificial intelligence and its impact on music production and distribution, being interviewed on the topic across news outlets including NBC News and Teen Vogue.
