RhymeHamster is a free rhyming dictionary built for songwriters and lyricists by a working lyricist.

Most rhyming dictionaries are endless lists of computer-generated junk that no human seems to have looked at. They’re clunky and stuffed with things a lyricist would never use. RhymeHamster started as a hobby, a rhyming dictionary I built for myself. Then I shared it with the Princeton students in the musical theater writing workshop I’ve taught for twenty years. They got a kick out of it and told me it worked better than anything else out there.

Every perfect rhyme has been checked by hand: no words stressed on the wrong syllable, no plurals nobody would sing. I also added about ten thousand real words, phrases, names, places and brands that have snuck into modern parlance since the other rhyming dictionaries were published.

Perfect rhymes are strict and slant rhymes sit on their own dial. There are also Stretch Rhymes, a true Interior Rhyme tool and Wildcard Rhymes for when the list runs out. The whole dictionary (115,000+ words) loads once, so every lookup is instant.
