It is a social community, live author events hub, newsletter/magazine, and support group for Palmer's self-published music books. The first major project is a book about Bay Area rap music
Books are initially selected by Palmer and will later include recommendations from the community. A 10% commission is earned through affiliate book sales on Bookshop.org
The Music Book Club logo was designed by Richard Alexander Caraballo. Palmer is also 48 Hills' Good Taste columnist and publisher of the California Eating zine and Creative Jobs newsletter
Music Book Club aims to build a community around people who love reading about music and provide support for Palmer's future music books and zines
The club launched on January 10, 2024 with a robust calendar of live Zoom calls featuring interviews and insights from writers like Ann Powers, Dan Charnas, Danyel Smith and more
