About
The Rise Above Fest is a music festival founded by Seether to raise awareness for suicide prevention and mental illness. The festival's name derives from Seether's hit song "Rise Above This," and was created in honor of Eugene Welgemoed, the brother of Seether frontman Shaun Morgan. Morgan explains, "I lost my brother in 2007 to suicide and it never gets easier. This whole festival came about as a dedication to him. I started this festival as a tribute to anyone who has lost someone. If this festival does something to help one person reconsider the tragic choice of suicide, then it will be the greatest success of my career." The festival has expanded its presence at additional music festivals around the globe and through products like Morgan's newly-announced Alain’s Ardent Ale, all in an effort to continue its mission of prevention and awareness.
